Kris Alingod – AHN News Contributor

Chicago, IL, United States (AHN) – Former White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel leads rivals in the race for Chicago mayor by double-digits, according to a new poll released Wednesday, the same day objections were filed challenging Emanuel’s residency in the city.

The latest We Ask America poll has Emanuel with 39 percent support, followed by former Sen. Carol Moseley Braun at 12 percent, and former City Colleges Board chair Gery Chico at 9 percent.

Rep. Danny Davis (D-IL), city clerk Miguel del Valle and state Sen. James Meeks all have less than 8 percent support. All others in the crowded field of 20 contenders received less than 2 percent. Nineteen percent of voters were undecided.

The survey, commissioned by the Chicago Retail Merchants Association, also included U.S. Sen. Roland Burris, who ends his term as an appointee to the old seat of President Barack Obama next Monday.

Supporters of Burris filed petitions early this week to put him on the ballot. The senator, who is the lone African-American in the U.S. senate and one of four in the mayoral race, had 2 percent support in the survey.

Emanuel’s front-runner status was not unexpected, especially with the withdrawal of Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart last month. But he faces several objections before the city board of elections to his residency.

The 50-year-old spent nearly the last two years at the White House as the president’s top aide. His qualification as a candidate is under question since municipal election law has a one-year residency requirement.

Emanuel’s campaign has argued that he is a registered voter in the city who voted absentee early this year and who simply rented out his home during his time in Washington. The tenant at the home, Rob Halpin, has refused to leave before the end of the lease and entered the mayoral race this week.

Emanuel, whose aggressive style as chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee was key to his party’s success in the 2006 mid-terms, is seeking to succeed retiring Mayor Richard Daley.

The election will be held in February. A runoff is scheduled for April if no candidate receives at least half of all votes.

Washington, D.C., United States (AHN) – The Obama Administration is preparing to promote exports with “Made in America” brand from manufacturing sector during the upcoming presidential trip to Asia, officials told journalists on Monday.

During his trip to Asia later this week, President Barack Obama would concentrate on opening up new markets for American goods and strengthen U.S. economy at home, the officials stressed.

Mike Froman, Deputy National Security Advisor for International Economic Affairs Mike said, “We don’t have a planned economy. But we have a very globally competitive manufacturing service and agricultural sectors. And we’ll be looking to export from each of those.”

Noting that the U.S. has “some of the leading companies in the world,” and “some of the premier services companies in the world,” along with an efficient agriculture sector, Froman said, “So in all areas of our economy, we hope to expand exports to a fast-growing market like India.”

According to the White House sources there are a number of commercial tie-ups in the making and would get finalized during the visit, forging a much wider trade deal between India and the U.S.

Froman noted that, “this is the fourth G20 that President Obama will be attending,” adding, “As in the case of London, Pittsburgh and Toronto, the agenda is a broad one and covers not only the management of the economic crisis but laying the foundation for the post-crisis global economy.”

Froman reiterated the focus on exports and job-creation back in the U.S. saying, “This agenda is critical to our economy back here at home, to our recovery and our ability to increase exports and create well-paying jobs here at home.”

At the briefing, Lael Brainard, U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Under Secretary for International Affairs outlined “the core areas of our economic agenda for the G20 summit in Seoul.”

“President Obama remains intensely focused on promoting economic growth, to create job opportunities for our workers, and export opportunities for our small businesses, our manufacturers, our farmers and our service providers,” Brainard said.

Replying to a question on ongoing global controversy over China keeping its currency artificially low, Froman said, “We do not expect the China currency issue or the imbalance issue to be solved once and for all in Seoul,” reiterating, “This is an ongoing effort, not something that would be resolved once and for all by leaders in Seoul.”

On the question of IMF reforms, Brainard predicted that during “an accelerated review both of the formula and of quota shares in 2014,” there would be a chance to give “greater weight to countries’ share of income in the world economy as part of that review.”

Froman also addressed the agenda of APEC, a group of 21 economies, that will be held in Yokohama, calling it “the primary forum for economic integration discussions in the Asia Pacific.”

“That is vital — that region and further economic integration, trade liberalization in Asia Pacific is vital to our own interests and our ability to export more and grow our economy here at home,” he said.

There would be a review of “the status of the trade liberalization measures that have been underway for the last 15 years and we’ll be laying the foundation for next year when the U.S. hosts APEC in November 2011 in Honolulu,” added Froman.

The overwhelming fact of the global currency system is that America needs a much weaker dollar to bring its economy back into kilter and avoid slow ruin, yet the rest of the world cannot easily handle the consequences of such a wrenching adjustment. There is not enough demand to go around.

Trading and buying penny stocks has become increasingly popular over the past fifteen to twenty years in Europe and throughout America. More and more people want to get involved with buying penny stocks and trading them to hopefully make a profit. To buy penny stock with success and vigor you must first get a grip on the fundamentals of this kind of investing as it is similar to more conventional investing but it also exemplifies many unique characteristics that almost any new trader should understand before taking the next step forward.

If you want to buy penny stocks then you need to know what a penny stock is. A penny stock is essentially a low-cost stock that trades for less than about five dollars a share on over the counter quotation services such as Pink Sheets and the OTC bulletin board. Although many argue that penny stocks are not traded at high volumes, many penny stocks exemplify high trading volumes somewhere in the neighborhood of the hundreds of millions. Penny stocks are ultimately high risk investments that can make their investors a lot of money but at the same time can cost an investor who may have been speculating their entire bankroll if they’re not too careful.

If you want to get involved trading and buying penny stock then it is always best to educate yourself first before you actually start trading. It doesn’t take that long to learn the fundamentals of penny stock trading but it is important that any new investor first get a grip on such vital information because it will serve them well going forward into the future. Once you have educated yourself to the point that you feel that you are ready to trade penny stock then you simply need to open an account with a brokerage, make a deposit and start trading.

Some of the best brokerages allow you to open an account online and use their online software to make trades thus taking the human element almost entirely out of the picture. You should be careful though because trading this way is so easy, and it can become easy to overlook the fact that you are dealing with real money and not just pixels on a screen. In the end you should just remember that to succeed with trading penny stocks you must learn to make smart and strategic decisions over time, and if you can do this you should have no trouble eventually making a profit with penny stocks.
